The Mangosteen spherical dark purple with a diameter 5 8 cm, hard rind, white flesh. seeds pericarps the have long been utilized as traditional medicine Asia (Ovalle-Magallanes et al. 2017). Surveys were conducted from March April 2019 markets Wujing Town, Shanghai (31°02′33″ N, 121°28′04″ E), one noteworthy postharvest disease was observed. Overall, 116 samples collected five different supermarkets; 10.3% (12) fruits found infected same symptoms during cold storage. subjected pathogen isolation characterization. junction areas between diseased healthy tissues cut into small pieces mm diameter, which surface sterilized 0.5% NaClO solution min, followed rinsing sterile water three times, then placed potato dextrose agar (PDA) plates supplemented 50 μg/ml streptomycin. colony edges resulting fungal cultures moved new PDA purification after days incubation at 28°C. After rounds subculture, total 19 purified isolates obtained, showed similar phenotypes morphological characters. colonies fast growing (25 per day 28°C plates) circular massive aerial hyphae, ochraceous color. Nonseptate hyphae hyaline septa only branching points. Sporangiophores arose or stolons. Sporangiospores hyaline, smooth-walled, mostly subspherical ellipsoidal, measured 1.34 2.73 µm (width) 3.12 6.19 (length) (1.98 ± 0.36 × 4.46 0.69, n = 100) (Álvarez 2011). Three independent (GM-07, GM-16, GM-19) selected further genetic analysis pathogenicity tests. internal transcribed spacer (ITS) D1/D2 region nuclear large subunit ribosomal RNA gene (LSU) amplified primers ITS1/ITS4 NL1/LR3, respectively (Walther 2013). BLASTn analyses ITS (MN081612, MN081613, MN087659) LSU (MN080423, MN080422, MN080432) sequences exhibited 99 100% identity strains HZ640, extr25, CBS977.68 (accession nos. KC461926 MH510278 JX976214 LSU). These features molecular identification indicated that possessed identical characteristics M. Stchigel, Cano, Guarro & Ed. Alvarez To conduct test (Al-Sadi 2014), 20 µl spore suspension (106 spores/ml) inoculated mangosteen syringes, while another injected controls. All kept sealed plastic boxes 12/12 h light/dark illumination cycle 90% relative humidity. about 7 days, materials those original fruits, control remained symptomless. successfully reisolated symptomatic fulfilling Koch’s postulates. Only plant species can be reported so far, including key lime Oman corn (Peng 2015), sorghum Brazil (Lima 2018). our knowledge, first report causing rot China. The author(s) declare no conflict interest.References:Al-Sadi, A. First report of Fusarium chlamydosporum causing crown rot and dumping of on Durum wheat in Algeria

Several species of Fusarium infect durum wheat plants in the eastern part of Algeria. Endophytic fungus from random wheat seeds were sampled from fifty locations in eastern Algeria and shows the existence of Fusarium chlamydosporum regarding the macroscopic and microscopic characteristics. Molecular identification using EF1 and ITS1 primers were confirmed the presence of Fusarium chlamydosporum...

The First Report of Postharvest Stem Rot of Kohlrabi Caused by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum in Korea

In March 2014, a kohlrabi stem rot sample was collected from the cold storage room of Daegwallyong Horticultural Cooperative, Korea. White and fuzzy mycelial growth was observed on the stem, symptomatic of stem rot disease. The pathogen was isolated from the infected stem and cultured on potato dextrose agar for further fungal morphological observation and to confirm its pathogenicity, accordin...

First Report of Myrothecium roridum Causing Leaf and Stem Rot Disease on Peperomia quadrangularis in Korea

In 2010, symptoms of leaf and stem rot were observed on potted plants (Peperomia quadrangularis) in a greenhouse in Yongin, Korea. The causative pathogen was identified as Myrothecium roridum based on morphological data, internal transcribed spacer sequence analysis, and pathogenicity test. To our knowledge, this is the first report of M. roridum causing leaf and stem rot disease on P. quadrang...

Monilinia Species Causing Brown Rot of Peach in China

In this study, 145 peaches and nectarines displaying typical brown rot symptoms were collected from multiple provinces in China. A subsample of 26 single-spore isolates were characterized phylogenetically and morphologically to ascertain species. Phylogenetic analysis of internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions 1 and 2, glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (G3PDH), β-tubulin (TUB2) reveale...
